Accessible Home, Neillsville, Wisconsin
Wood Wright Construction had the privilege to provide accessible housing for a local man who desired to live independently, but needed a home that would be safe and convenient for his needs. After working together to determine the most effective and affordable solution, it was determined that a thorough remodel of his existing home was the best solution. Wood Wright designed and built a fully accessible kitchen and bath, as well as accessible entry and interior doors. Careful planning into everything from flooring materials to access to the home's physical plant concluded in a detailed plan for a home that will provide convenience and safety for many years.
In these pictures below, you will see how a '40's style home can be successfully transformed to a modern accessible home.
This remodel was a joint venture project between Wood Wright Construction, Accessibility Resource Center, and Hands Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to helping provide needed housing for people in the US and Mexico. For more information on Hands Foundation, click here.
An Accessible Kitchen Sink
There was no need for a rise-fall sink to provide an up and down position, so a fixed sink at chair height was specified.
Accessible Cabinets
Traditional hinges do not sufficiently open for full accessibility, so special hinges are used throughout the home for easiest access.
Custom Oven and Cabinetry
For safety and protection, side hinged ovens with a pull out shelf enable the homeowner to easily utilize the entire kitchen!
One Surface from Wall to Wall
A truly accessible bathroom has no ledges or barriers to movement across the entire floor.
